I was at Tarpon Springs on a very rare overcast day, for these parts, when I came across this Pelican waiting for the soon arrival of a fishing boat. I was surprised he did not fly off. He watched me very carefully with apparent concern but seemed determined not to give up his perch and advantage point. It was like he was telling me that his species was here before the likes of me. I agree and must respect this.

GRACEFUL LANDING

I love to watch Pelicans fly. Very often they coast just a few feet over the top on the water. Often if they find a catch they dive straight in. This one decided to land and take a repose enjoying the water. We need to do that. God does not expect us to be all work. He wants us to take time to rest as well. Often that may be the thing to do that the time. That very well may be the moment he talks to us in the quite breeze. There is a time to work but there must be time to rest.

Now here I take pictures of birds but all too often know very little of them and their habituate. I do know that many birds are partners for life. I feel these two were paired for a long time and seem to reinforce each other. That is how I feel it should be with married people. For a marriage to really work, each who comes from different backgrounds with their own individual traits, must let go of these and together reshape themselves so there is this cohesive harmony. It takes hard work by both, but speaking from over 40 years of marriage, well worth the effort. Marriage is a life time commitment of change and growth. To me marriage is a mirror of the Blessed Trinity.

I see these type of birds all over Florida. They are often in groups but this one is by himself unless a friend is nearby. He is enjoying himself from a refreshing spring of water. We too need to refresh ourselves for the refreshing spring of God abundant flow of graces given to us through His Divine Son and our Brother, Jesus.
