As I was walking through a mall in Honolulu, I spotted this distinguished gentleman sitting with his family. He and his family were gracious enough to give me permission to take this picture. They informed me that he turns 100 this year. What an honor for me. In a song sung by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, it suggest what would the King & Queen say if they visit HAWAI'I today and see highways on their sacred grounds. I bet this wise Hawai'ian could tell us. Maybe we should ask and maybe we should really listen to his response.

Hawai'i is one of the most beautiful places I was blessed to visit on this planet. Its beauty is in its climate, wind, the sun, its flowers, but most of all, its people. This flower is drawing its energy and its beauty from the sun. I believe the sun represents God, and the flowers, His people. Hawai'i has particularity beautiful flowers which to me represents particular beautiful people. When I told one islander, this was my second time to Hawai'i, he said, "Welcome home!" Did that touch me to the very depth of my heart! I have a friend who was always visiting these islands. At the time I did not understand why. Now I do!

It was rather early one morning on the south shore, that I saw this young man steal a kiss from his young wife. It was obviously they were very much in love. As I took their picture my prayer was that they would capture and bring home the true inner beauty of these Hawi'ian Island and its community. I do not pray for an easy life for them but mutual support, love & strength which can only foster growth.

When I see fathers and their daughters interact such as these two, it gives me hope in the future of man kind. This young father, as with so many fathers, has many worries and concerns weighing on his shoulders, yet it is obvious he is taking time doing what matter most. One can see this child idolizes her dad and feels very secure in his love. What an example for all of us to emulate.
